I really enjoyed this debate. I like how we each had a different person's perspective to take on. It was a little frustrating at times because we know the facts about what happened port American Revolution, so it was hard, as a Loyalist, to have concrete ideas, when in actuality, the Patriots won. I liked seeing how people would step up in the discussion. Everything was so fast paced that some of the facts got overlooked. Loyalists kept saying that the Patriots would have no sense of government or trade income. They would be lost as a society. The Patriots argued that the Loyalists were too broke to do anything and that the King was lazy. They said that their men suffered in battle while the King didn't do anything except sit in his throne. I did think that the Loyalists had more facts within the actual debate but the Patriots had more ethical views, separation from the Parliament. The colonists probably saw the benefits and determinants on both sides of the spectrum. It was really conflicting on both sides because there were so many topics that are controversial: slavery, war, funding etc. I learned about actual people from that time and their back stories that played into the debate. It's easier to talk and yell at other people because you're not being hard on them personally, but on the character that they took over.
