Career Day 2016
For career day, I went to DCN. It's a biotech lab firm located in Carlsbad. There is no set schedule because it depends on results from the day before. There could be a meeting to discuss results or revisions in the lab to improve the results. Lunch times vary from 11:00-3:00 but each person must work a total of 9 hours in a day. Employees can show up no later than 9 am. Flexibility is key to scheduling. Trust to be responsible. Career day was definitely a life changing experience. Not only did I see new things and learn new things, I was introduced to the people who work behind the scenes in the medical field. I learned the importance of biology and how it applies to everything in the world. While I was in the lab, I got to see things that were unheard of and tests were being run for things I never would have thought of.
Although it was a serious work environment, each scientist had a really good sense of humor and liked one another. They could be friendly and work productive at the same time. Everyone had a different background and some had PHD’s and some just had their Masters. Yet no one brags about who has a higher degree and it was a very mature environment.
