Class B Team Members: Abby, Aliza and Carly The Political Team is focused on the privilege of letting us sample water in the City of Escondido. We first proposed that scientists and researchers should sample water from the watershed to keep watch the conditions to make sure they're okay to reintroduce salmonids into the creek. For the Watershed project, I was in the Class B Political Team. Initially the idea was try to change the legalities of water testing in Escondido, but while my team and I were interviewing people such as park rangers, students, and teachers, we came to find that not many people knew what the watershed was or the legalities of it at all. We decided to come up with a product that would be informative to the community. I contributed by designing a newspaper called “The Watershed” that will be for people who visit the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center. For biology next year, there are a lot of topics that will be applicable. Things like learning about chemicals in the body and ways that chemicals build up can help determine the way the body reacts to them. Learning about chemicals that build up plants can help determine how a plant grows or things that kill it. This project was a beneficial one for our community and I hope that future scientists can use our data in keeping our watersheds healthy.
